Hivite | Battling the Living Dead

Hivites the living dead
“And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee. Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.” Exodus 34:10-16

Hivite the Living Dead

Hivite means village, tent village or town according to the Hebrew word chavvah. It refers to an encampment. However, when we look at the root of the word chavvah we learn that it means Eve, which stands for “living” or “life.”

The Hivite spirit give life to a different nature than that of God. It sustains and encourages “living” but not according to the standard or ways of God. The Hivite spirit is a deceptive spirit in that it gives the semblance of living yet it is devoid of spiritual life. Therefore, the Hivite spirit is a master of illusion. It tries to shape our realities in order to shift our foundation from Christ to that of our circumstances whether good or bad.

Nature of the Hivite

The nature of the Hivite spirit is one of deception for the Bible tells us that,
“And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” Genesis 3:13
“And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” 1 Timothy 2:14
Eve was in sin because she was deceived therefore; the Hivite spirit wants to get us into sin by using deception. This will cause us to live a different life than the one we have been called to live in the spirit through Christ Jesus. We would be living yet spiritually dead.

Keep the Lord before You

In order to triumph over the Hivite spirit we must keep our eyes trained on God. We must look upward to the Lord for our help, deliverance, and direction. We are to rely on him for guidance and revelation. We are to seek him for clarity.

“I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Psalm 16:8

Meditate Continually on the Word

Meditate on the Word of God continually. This means we are to roar, muse, whisper, murmur, groan, study, ponder, mourn, utter, imagine, speak, and plot with it. When we utilize the word of God, we are plotting the enemy’s demise. We are actively engaging in battle in order to destroy his works and dismantle his kingdom.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8

Remember Truth

Recount truth. Stand on truth. Eve tried to stand on truth with the serpent however, what she said was inaccurate which gave an opening for the serpent to use.

“But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” Genesis 3:3 (*emphasis author).
Our duty is to remember truth and to be established in truth. The truth of God is accurate and precise therefore, we are to be precise when we utilize it against the enemy for he is a legalists and will use our inaccuracy against us.
“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.” 2 Peter 1:12

Challenge

Your challenge should you decide to take it, confront every deceptive spirit with truth. Drive them out. Establish truth and get your house, life, mind, and body in order.
