“He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13
Recently a school official spoke to my husband and me about an incident that took place with our son. We shared with him our concerns and the feedback we had gotten from our child. Even though his actions were called out, he continued to cover over his actions. He even went so far as to lie. He was determined that at all cost he was going to win the discussion even if it cost him our respect.
This made me ask the question how far am I willing to go to save face with men. What am I willing to sacrifice in order to appear perfect in their eyes? Is it truly worth it?
The Bible tells us that anyone who covers his sin will not prosper therefore, when we willfully cover our sins with lies, deceptions, or denials it is at a tremendous price—our prosperity!
Are you willing to pay that cost?
Step 1
What sins are you covering over?
Step 2
Are you willing to confess them before the Lord and to those you have wronged?
Step 3
Take time to list them in your journal. Note the actions that you are taking. Place them on the altar before God so that they are consumed. Allow the blood of Jesus to heal and refresh you.
