“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11
As children of God, we are not to have fellowship with the works of darkness. What are the works of darkness? How can we identify them? The word work implies that darkness has a business. Its business is to produce unfruitfulness in divine and spiritual matters. Darkness by its natures prevents one from seeing and when there is an absence of light one is rendered blind. Therefore, the objective of darkness is to render those who operate in it blind.
God has called us into the light of Christ Jesus. He has plucked us out of the kingdom of darkness and has placed us firmly in the light. However, we have a work to do and the business of the Father to advance. We are not to allow the deeds of darkness to be our trademark. We are not to be barren! Barrenness is the inability to yield what we ought to yield which renders us as a form of a thing without the essence of it.
Wherever we find darkness, we are to reprove it. Whenever shadows are cast, we are to shed light. How do we do this? By calling the darkness out. To identify it as faulty and to correct it. To chasten it as God would. We are employed by the God of heaven therefore, we are to enforce his standard wherever we go.
What unfruitful works of darkness are lurking in the shadows of your heart? Mind? Life? Home? Are you willing and ready to reprove them?
Step 1
In your journal, list all the works of darkness that you have worked with.
Step 2
Call them out and identify them as faulty.
Step 3
Establish the standard of God. Correct them. As Holy Spirit leads, you establish the new order of God in your life by faith.
