Rise up against the Hittite Spirit
“And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee. Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.” Exodus 34:10-16
The word Hittite means “descendant of Heth.” Heth was the second son of Canaan. The word Heth means terror therefore; the descendants of Heth are those that stir up terror. However, their activity goes much further for they create an atmosphere of terror that is engineered to break, shatter, dismay, and terrify. Their objective is to break those they encounter down with fear and to cause them to be utterly confounded so that they are in pieces.
Expose the Hittite to Light using the Power of Praise
In order to triumph over the Hittite spirit we must pierce them through with the weapons of our warfare. Send forth praise. When we release our praises unto the Lord, we are sending forth light into the darkness in order to pierce it through. Darkness will try to resist however, we are to be relentless in our assault until darkness is shattered.
“A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1
Force the Hittite to Bow with the Power of Worship
When we begin to worship God, we force the powers of darkness to bow down before him in homage. Our worship is a powerful force for it lays hold of the enemy and pushes him to his knees. It turns the tables on the enemy and makes him depressed.
“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” Psalm 29:2
Soundness of Mind
Utilize the sound mind that God has given us through Christ Jesus. When we allow the mind of Christ to function unhindered within us, we will operate with wisdom, understanding, discernment, and spiritual perception (Philippians 2:5). A sound mind prevents the enemy from being able to throw us into a state of panic or confusion. We will remember whose we are and what our purpose is as children of the most high God.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Challenge
Your challenge should you decide to take it, is to wage war against the Hittite spirit in your life. Identify every area where fear has been lurking, dwelling, or actively opposing you. You are to battle for the light. Cause the enemy of God to bow before him. Cause the Hittite spirit to be broken asunder.
