Pray for a Family Member
“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” 1 Timothy 5:8
The word provide in 1 Timothy 5:8, refers to our ability to see beforehand. It is to give thought of a situation before it comes into being. It is to operate with understanding and to impartially judge, or consider a matter.
We are to provide for our own especially those in our household. This includes those in the household of Christ. When we fail to consider the spiritual impact of their decisions, actions, thoughts, philosophies, or emotional balance it could detail them in life and exclude them from entering the kingdom of God. When we invest time to think of them with the spirit of understanding, we are in essence becoming our brother’s keeper. We are training ourselves to be watchmen to help protect their spiritual well-being.
Consider your family members what do they need? What can you pray for them? Choose one family member to focus on or several. Allow Holy Spirit to place a burden on your heart for them. Ask him to enlighten your mind so that you can pray with spiritual precision, depth and faith.
