Confess and be Healed
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
What are your misdeeds? In James 5:16, we are counseled to confess our misdeeds, the areas that have caused us to miss the mark of God. They represent our deviating from truth and uprightness. We could have fallen along with others in the position that we took on an issue or because of our own belief that was in error. Either way it is to fall away from the path of what is true or right in the eyes of God.
Why does God ask us to confess our deviations from the path of truth? He does so in order to break the hold our sins have on us. Confession breaks the hold of guilt, shame, and deception. It opens the way for healing for it floods the situation with the light of the Lord. Through the act of confession, the Lord causes us to once more ascent to the higher position of righteousness. We are not called to be descenders, but rather ascenders to the higher realms of God.
If we refuse to confess, our sins healing will not come but even more importantly, we will not be able to operate in authority we will be under the rule of principalities, powers, spiritual wickedness and rulers. They will be over us rather than our being over them.
Satan is thrilled whenever a believer refuses to confess their sins for he knows he has power, dominion, and control over the life of that one. Our duty as believers is to please God by ruining the plans of the enemy!
This week’s challenge is to make a mockery of the works of the devil by confessing every sin before the Lord and to those whom Holy Spirit identifies confession is due. It could be your spouse, children friend, boss, enemy, or an acquaintance. Whoever it is act by faith and allow the Lord to govern the outcome.
